双语播音与语言系下设播音与主持艺术（双语播音）和英语两个本科专业。播音与主持艺术（双语播音）成立于2001年，为国家一流本科建设专业方向，浙江省第一批国际化专业。本专业现设有双语播音和国际新闻两个柔性方向，致力于培养知中国、爱中国、具有强烈社会责任感、具有交叉学科知识背景的应用型、复合型、创新型国际传播卓越人才。英语专业设立于2002年，2006年开始招收本科生。以英语语言文学为主体，依托传媒类院校特色和优势，设有两个专业方向：国际传播和媒体翻译。着力培养熟悉党和国家方针政策，能够熟练运用英语和新媒体技术从事对外话语国际交流、全球传播事务、媒体翻译、文化管理、新闻出版、外语教育和学术研究等相关工作的复合型、应用型高级英语人才。
本系现有专任教师35名，师资力量雄厚，具有海外留学经历及博士学位占比90%以上。近年来先后聘请外籍专家、外籍教师21名。教师主持或参与国家社会科学基金项目、教育部人文社会科学规划基金项目、浙江省哲学社会科学规划项目等国家级和省部级课题多项；在国际和国内权威期刊发表高水平系列学术论文；专著、合著、译著和教材四十余部；主持或参与各级教改课改六十余项，获多项省一流课程、教育部产学合作协同育人项目立项；获“教育部人文社科奖”、“教育部微课教学比赛一等奖”、“全国优秀教师”、“省优秀教师”、“省教师教学创新大赛一等奖”等多项荣誉。
The Department of Bilingual Broadcasting and Languages offers two degree programs: an BA in Broadcasting and Hosting Art (Bilingual Broadcasting) and an BA in English. Established in 2001, the Bilingual Broadcasting program is recognized as a national first-class undergraduate program and was among the inaugural internationalized majors in Zhejiang Province. It currently offers two flexible tracks: Bilingual Broadcasting and International Journalism, with the aim of cultivating innovative interdisciplinary talents for international communication who understand China and possess a strong sense of social responsibility.
The English major was established in 2002, with undergraduate enrollment commencing in 2006. Concentrating on English Language and Literature, it leverages the unique strengths of a media institution to provide two specializations: International Communication and Media Translation. The program endeavors to develop interdisciplinary and application-oriented professionals who are well-versed in the principles and policies of both the Party and state and are proficient in English language skills as well as in using new media technologies. The students will be able to engage effectively in international discourse and get involved in global communication affairs, media translation, cultural management and press publication. Additionally, they will have the skills to teach English, do academic research or be active within related fields.
The Department boasts a faculty of 35 full-time teachers—a robust teaching team where over 90% have overseas study experience or hold doctoral degrees. In recent years, it has recruited 21 foreign experts and instructors. Its faculty members have led or participated extensively in scores of national- level research projects funded by entities such as the National Social Science Fund, the Ministry of Education Humanities & Social Sciences Research Planning Fund, along with initiatives from Zhejiang Provincial Philosophy & Social Sciences Planning Project. They have published a series of high-level scholarly works in prestigious domestic and international journals, and have authored, co-authored, translated, or compiled over 40 books and textbooks. Additionally, they have led or participated in more than 60 educational reform projects at various levels, achieving various provincial first-class course designations and securing several Ministry of Education Industry-University-Research Cooperative Education projects. The Department has received multiple accolades, including the "Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Sciences Award," "First Prize in the Ministry of Education Micro-Lecture Teaching Competition," "National Outstanding Teacher," "Provincial Outstanding Teacher," and "First Prize in the Provincial Teaching Innovation Competition."
